INVADA

INVADA
Located in the heart of Bristol UK, Invada Records is an independent record company founded by musician & producer Geoff Barrow (Portishead, BEAK>, Ex Machina ), and promoter and venue owner Paul Horlick, who previously ran influential Bristol independent labels throughout the 80’s & 90’s. In 2009 Redg Weeks joined the company and currently manages the label.

The label has a reputation for releasing outsider alternative music with no limitations or restrictions on genre, style or even format. Since its inception the company has released music by artists such as Gonga, Julian Cope, Thought Forms, BEAK>, The Fauns, Adrian Utley, The KVB, Sleaford Mods, Drokk, College, Fairhorns, and CUTS to name but a few. The label has also contributed to the rise of popularity in Soundtrack culture. Invada has become known for releasing scores to movies and video games, with the likes of Drive, Ex Machina, Solaris, Hannibal, Far Cry 3 and 4, Watch Dogs, and 30 Days Of Night, becoming critically and commercially successful without sacrificing the principles that the label was built upon.

Invada are known also for their live events which have happened sporadically throughout the label’s lifespan. Most Invada artists have come together at one-time or another to contribute to events such as the Portishead curated ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties’ weekenders in the UK and US, the 20 hour ‘Invada Invasion’ at Bristol’s Colston Hall, the BEAK> curated ‘Sonic City’ in Belgium, or smaller improv art-festival jams where Invada band personnel have all played together. Through a marriage of music, live performances, and audio/visual art, Invada have established a strong reputation as a label defined by innovation and uncompromising values.
