THE CLASH – TOKYO CALLING – LIVE NAKANO SUN PLAZA 1982
$23.80
Between late January and early February 1982, The Clash played eight shows in Japan. The band was embarking on a month-long tour of the Far East which, as fate would have it, would be the last tour with the classical line-up. When it all ended, drummer Topper Headon was thrown out due to his drug addiction and the band would never be the same again. According to music journalist Chris Salewicz’s book Redemption Song: The Ballad of Joe Strummer, the Clash refused to play in Japan prior to this tour due to the Japanese custom that forbade audience members to stand up. They agreed after a compromise was reached: fans could stand, but only in their seats.
