Easily recognizable by his impassioned Johnny Cash-meets-Charlie Feathers vocals, the France-native Don Cavalli began to get notice in the greater music and blog community when he released his full-length Cryland (2007), which featured his amalgamation of swamp blues, lo-fi pop, country gospel, and early rock & roll. His new studio album Temperamental stays on the blues track while dismantling the traditional codes of the field. Indeed, thanks to an old fashioned sound-take and a contemporary production, Don Cavalli makes his new album sound old but incredibly modern. And if Temperamental goes through many kinds of sounds, in the end it always goes straight to the point: unique Cajun blues from the bayou, serving up a soulful and sophisticated voice.
