Head on a Platter is Carnage Asada’s first album since their 1999 CD Permanent Trails 1999. Los Angeles Punk Jazz Veteranos Carnage Asada formed in 1993 and is fronted by barrio poet George Murillo who sings his twelve tales of experiences and observations of the East LA life. The musicians behind the poetry are Steve Reed on drums, besides playing in bands such as Saccharine Trust, Legal Weapon, and Bazooka Steve as worked as the soundman for Firehose and Devo, doing backing vocals for Firehose while he mixed. Tony Fate – guitar from the Bellrays, Symbol Six, and The Black Widows. Punk Rock Musicologist David O Jones on bass also plays bass for The Deadbeats, and Alice Bag. On electric Cello is Dave Travis who ran Cafe NELA, the nucleus for punk and obscure music in Northeast Los Angeles in the 1990s. Guest starring is Dan Clucas of the Universal Congress Of, and Mecolodiacs on trumpet and Eric Robnett on percussion. Dave Travis and David Jones have been in bands together since high school in 1984. Head on a Platter is a mixture of musical flavors rolled up into a musical burrito. A punk rock chamber orchestra delivering everything from punk rock to jazz rock to norteño. It is an organic sound the result of 32 years of obscurity playing bars and punk shows around Southern California. Their sound has been compared a cross between Captain Beefheart and War.
