Crimson Ghosts, The – Leaving The Tomb (W/10″)

With their 2005 debut album “Leaving the Tomb”, Cologne-based band The Crimson Ghosts catapulted themselves straight to the top of the German horror punk scene. Now, 20 years later, the album will be released on March 28, 2025 in a lavish re-release edition by Ring Of Fire Records, distributed by Broken Silence. The vinyl version comes in a gatefold cover with a color insert and contains the regular album on a 12″ LP as well as a bonus 10″ featuring demo recordings from 2003/2004, a previously unreleased live version of “The King of Skull Island” and a re-recorded version of “When They Howl”. This first edition is limited to 500 copies and comes in colored vinyl with random color selection. The CD version naturally also contains the original album and all bonus tracks and comes in a stylish digipack with a 12-page booklet. The reissue is complemented by liner notes by Argyle Goolsby (Blitzkid), a long-time companion and friend of the band, as well as an exclusive collage with previously unpublished photos from the band’s early history. In contrast to many re-releases, a remix or remaster was deliberately avoided. Instead, the raw, original sound from 2005 remains untouched – in keeping with the authentic spirit that made the album a milestone back then. With their high-quality production and technically sophisticated mix of metallic heaviness and catchy horror punk, Crimson Ghosts have already set new standards with their debut. The band’s outstanding vocals, which are supported by polyphonic backing choirs, were and still are a unique selling point.
