The Denzel Curry Zuu vinyl is a 2019 LP release on Loma Vista Recordings, catalog number LVR 653, and it represents one of the more direct and focused records in his catalog to date. Curry came up through the Carol City scene in Miami, cutting his teeth on mixtapes in the early 2010s before building a dedicated following on the strength of his technical delivery and an instinct for finding production that hits hard without swallowing the vocals. By the time ZUU dropped, he had already earned serious credibility in underground and independent rap circles, and this album felt like a homecoming of sorts, rooted firmly in Florida.
What ZUU Is About
ZUU is Curry turning the lens squarely on Miami. The album is tightly constructed, running lean without filler, and it keeps the focus on where he came from and what shaped him. That regional specificity is part of what makes it land differently than a lot of contemporary rap records. Curry is not interested in chasing trends here. The production choices reflect the aggression and texture of South Florida rap without feeling like nostalgia or pastiche, and his mic work is as controlled and deliberate as anything in his catalog. It is a confident record made by someone who knows exactly what he wants to say and how he wants to say it.
