DJ T-Kut SCRATCH PRACTICE (CLEAR) is a battle vinyl released on Play With Records, a 7-inch tool record built for serious scratch practice and pressed on clear vinyl, created in collaboration with DJ Yamal and Cut Sound Brothers. If you scratch regularly, you already know what a well-designed battle vinyl means to a practice session. This is that record, made by someone who has spent decades understanding what the format requires.

DJ T-Kut SCRATCH PRACTICE (CLEAR)

DJ T-Kut is Andre Manuel, an LA producer and DJ whose career traces the development of West Coast hip-hop production from the early 1980s forward. He came up in electro funk and electro rap before working in gangsta rap production and building a career that touched foundational recordings in Los Angeles hip-hop. His turntablist work reflects decades of technique developed in live performance and studio contexts where precision was not optional. Bringing that background to a purpose-built scratch tool record means the material has been designed by someone who has actually spent that time with a needle and a groove, not someone approximating what they think the format needs.

What the Record Contains

Two instrumental tracks and eight tool tracks, each built around a specific element of scratch vocabulary. The design is deliberate from start to finish. Tools are short, clean, and constructed to isolate the sounds and patterns that scratchers need to repeat under their hands during practice and in performance. The clear vinyl pressing serves a functional purpose as well as an aesthetic one: seeing the groove layout on clear material helps with cue placement in ways that black vinyl does not allow. Play With Records understands their audience.

For the Turntablist

A well-made battle vinyl is a working tool that gets used constantly. If you own turntables and practice scratching seriously, SCRATCH PRACTICE on clear vinyl delivers the sounds, the construction, and the format that support real work.

Battle vinyl has its own history and its own collector culture, and well-made examples from established practitioners are genuinely sought after. DJ T-Kut SCRATCH PRACTICE on clear vinyl is both a functional tool for serious scratch practice and a proper collectible from a DJ with real history in the Los Angeles hip-hop scene. Play With Records understands what this format requires and delivered accordingly with two instrumentals and eight targeted tool tracks.
