Kong Kong – From Russia With Punk

Weezer with street cred? We could tell you that Kong Kong is a band of incredibly clever Swedes playing an almost supernaturally catchy brand of Oi-infused power-pop, but in actuality, we’re not entirely sure that’s true. As far as we’re concerned, Kong Kong is, as they claim, a group of sentient gorillas operating from their empire’s capital of Gorilla City. The band’s third 7″ “From Russia with Punk” is an insanely catchy, mid tempo stomping power-pop punk EP à la The Cars or Chumbawamba but with super rough male lead vocals and a female indie pop call-and-response vocalist. Definitely original! This 7″ got to number 2 on the music blog “American Oi”‘s year list for best EP 2021. Limited edition of 400 copies comes on black vinyl with colored labels and lyric insert.
