Perez, Ray – El Trigueno

In his artistic career, Ray Pérez has created three great musical proposals that have earned him a place of honor in the world of salsa. The first of them is the group Los Dementes, created in 1965, making their first musical production in 1966, entitled Alerta Mundo, Llegó Los Locos/The Crazy Men, made for the Prodanza label. Ray Pérez and Los Dementes recorded about twenty-five albums, nine released on the Velvet label, four on the Fania label, four on their own label Pyraphon Records – created in 1967 -, two for Fonobosa and one for Discos Solex, Discos Líder, Disqueras Unidas, Promus and Korta Records. With singers Carlos Yanes “Calavén” and Carlín Rodríguez, Ray Pérez created the group Los Kenya, in which our honoree replaced the timbales with the drums. With his new group he recorded seven albums: Los Kenyas for the Velvet label in 1968; three albums in 1969: Ronda del Guaguancó, Ray Pérez sus Kenya, Rai Rai, also published by Pyraphon, and Los Kenya Vol. II. In 1970 Ray Pérez and Perucho Torcat, recorded with Los Kenya They Do It / Estamos en Todo, of what would be the last recordings together. Ray Pérez y Sus Kenya released Nuevo Día in 1972 and their last album was Ray Pérez y Los Kenya – Salsa, in 1994. En su trayectoria artística, Ray Pérez ha creado tres grandes propuestas musicales que le han ameritado un puesto de honor en el mundo de la salsa. La primera de ellas es la agrupación Los Dementes, creada en 1965, realizando su primera producción musical en 1966, titulada Alerta Mundo, Llegaron Los Locos/The Crazy Men, realizado para el sello Prodanza. Ray Pérez y Los Dementes grabaron unos veinticinco discos, nueve publicados por el sello Velvet, cuatro en el sello Fania, cuatro en su propio sello Pyraphon Records – creado en 1967-, dos para Fonobosa y uno para Discos Solex, Discos Líder, Disqueras Unidas, Promus y Korta Records. Con los cantantes Carlos Yanes “Calavén” y Carlín Rodríguez, Ray Pérez creó la agrupación Los Kenya, en la cual nuestro homenajeado reemplazó los timbales por la batería. Con su nuevo grupo grabó siete álbumes: Los Kenyas para el sello Velvet en 1968; tres discos en el año 1969: Ronda del Guaguancó, Ray Pérez sus Kenya, Rai Rai, también publicado por Pyraphon, y Los Kenya Vol. II. En 1970 Ray Pérez y Perucho Torcat, grabaron con Los Kenya They Do It / Estamos en Todo, de las que serían las últimas grabaciones juntos. Ray Pérez y Sus Kenya ?publicaron Nuevo Día en 1972 y su último disco fue Ray Pérez y Los Kenya ?- Salsa, en el año 1994.
