On October 18, 2019, Big Lazy releases their sixth album Dear Trouble via Checkered Past Records. Dear Trouble dwells in the landscape of noir Americana. Big Lazy’s music evokes seedy backrooms as well as big sky country with deftness and a cinematic clarity. With a nod toward classic guitar instrumentals and a fiery performance style, the new album captures the essence of the trio’s legendary live shows. Dear Trouble features NYC luminaries Marc Ribot, Steven Bernstein, Peter Hess (Philip Glass ensemble) and Marlysse Rose Simmons (Miramar). Big Lazy has flourished for over 2 decades in New York City’s downtown music scene. They honed their craft in iconic NYC clubs such as Tonic, The Knitting Factory and Barbès, and shared stages with Yoko Ono, The White Stripes and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The band has been featured on National Public Radio and in June 2018 were honored with a radio retrospective by the Mexico City Ministry of Culture. Big Lazy has performed their signature noir and twang from the Whitney Museum of American Art to the Opéra de Lyon. Big Lazy founder Stephen Ulrich is the composer for the HBO series “Bored to Death” and the art forgery documentary “Art and Craft”. “The Big Apple Crème de la Crème ” Robert Christgau – dean of American rock critics
