PERMANENT

PERMANENT
Record store founded and operated by Lance Barresi and Liz Tooley in October 2006, expanding to become a record label as well in 2007. However, in 2018, Lance became sole owner of Permanent Records.

The store was originally only located in Chicago (1914 W Chicago Ave). This location eventually closed September 17, 2017 so the owners could focus on the Los Angeles locations that were later added. The Chicago location has been purchased by new owners and converted into a new record store called Joyride Records.

After establishing a presence in Chicago, the owners decided to open a second location in Los Angeles in summer 2011. The original store was located in the Eagle Rock neighborhood (1583 Colorado Blvd) but was moved to nearby Highland Park (5116 York Blvd) after a few years. In late 2019, this location was moved to Cypress Park (1906 Cypress Ave) to open as a record store with an adjoining bar/music venue and was renamed to Permanent Records Roadhouse.

A second Los Angeles location was opened in Echo Park (1814 Sunset Blvd) after Permanent Records bought the Origami Vinyl shop and inventory when the owner and founder, Neil Schield, decided to close the business in 2016. In early 2020 this location was closed as part of the major location change for Permanent Records Roadhouse.

A third Los Angeles location was opened in Highland Park (5123 1/2 York Blvd), at the recently-closed Wombleton Records, on April 22, 2017 (Record Store Day 2017) to focus on housing lower-priced, used items. Aside from the Permanent Records Roadhouse, this is the only other location that remains open.

Permanent Records has employed several musicians over the years, such as Ty Segall, Emily Rose Epstein, Bert Hoover, and Erik Lake (2).
