With “New World Again – a brave New World”, their fifth full-length offering, the duo of Alain Leonard and Alex Wank (LAWA) move their singular music into uncharted territory. In previous recordings the foundation stone was the influence of the 1970s Italian soundtrack masters. With these latest compositions the sound palette expands to include near-industrial textures, the electronic voyages of the Krautrock legends, brooding jackhammer synths, and Herr Wank’s percussive onslaught underpinning the totality. Like a wayward comet crashing into the Arizona desert, these pieces might convince you their origin is extra-terrestrial. But the guiding intelligence is all too wedded to this planet Earth.
