THE TRACKS – TREASURED MEMORIES

$19.60

LA rock band The Tracks released their debut album ‘Treasured Memories’ independently in November 2018. The album chronicles the journey of youth growing up in East LA as the children of undocumented immigrants raised on a soundtrack of Michael Jackson, The Strokes and Vicente Fernandez. The album is produced by Lewis Pesacov, co-founder of the duo Fool’s Gold and who has produced albums for Best Coast and FIDLAR. The artwork was designed by Vlad Sepetov who also contributed to Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and To Pimp A Butterfly album artwork. The four, working class, first-generation friends have had the odds stacked against them but now breaking down barriers and leading the new wave of rising Chicano artists in music right now. The singer Venancio “Benny” Bermudez writes the lyrics, plays every instrument and produces all of the music. The adversity of his life is at the core of this album. He’s carried the heavy burden of caring for his family in the absence of his father for most of his life and later saw his father, a celebrated Mariachi who struggled with alcoholism and abuse, die in front of him. He spent most of his youth working a grueling job at a Tortilla factory and other back-breaking jobs to take care of his mom and brother and still does. They represent a large group of young, marginalized people in this country who share similar journeys and now becoming those idols that they loved growing up for others like them. The Tracks are singer & songwriter Venancio Bermudez, bassist Felipe Contreras, drummer Jimmy Conde, and guitarist Johnny Santana.
